Metallisation

Metallisation is a technique that has been existing a long time. Because of changed views on corrosion prevention this technique is applied increasingly more often, because a well applied metallisation coating can protect against corrosion for some 50 years. We always apply a metallisation coating on a blank blasted background. We can use various metals or alloys for the metallisation.

Frequently used materials are zinc (scooping zinc), an alloy of zinc-aluminium or aluminium magnesium (Thermal Spray Aluminium (TSA)). These materials are supplied as wires. We melt the wire with an electric arc after which we blow it on the surface with compressed air. The metal particles hit the surface where they almost immediately cool off and stick to the background.
